Today I thought I would ask you all a question. I would appreciate your answers.

What does Christmas mean to you? What is it that gives that special feeling that we all get each year at the Festive Season? Why is it even called the Festive Season in the first place?

I'll tell you what Christmas means to me!! I guess not many people have ever thought of what Christmas is all about from Santa's perspective so I thought I would share my thoughts and feelings.

Christmas to me is many things. It is the rush and hurry of packing the toys and gifts into sacks after they have been carefully wrapped and prettied. It is the exhilaration of the joy that will be shared with the whole world. I know many of you know the feeling you sometimes get when you give someone you love that special gift that you have hunted far and wide for. You sit on the edge of your seat with the joyful anticipation... watching their face as they slowly unwrap what you have so lovingly bought for them. You wait for the reaction in their eyes and the feeling of giving and joy and happiness overwhelmes you.... maybe even to a tear in your eye.

Santa's night is spent whizzing backwards and forwards to the North Pole to restock. The elves jumping and cheering and whooping and hollering with each new load that disappears from their sight. The reindeer tossing back their heads and snorting steam as they rise into the sky on their way to another drop off. I pull at the reins to keep the team going as they leap and tug, racing faster and faster as daylight approaches.

Mrs Claus waits at the door eagerly watching with the elves and the other reindeer that didn't get to do the trip this year. They all stand in the cold as they clutch their coats around them in the anticipation of my return. Mrs Claus keeps making hot cocoa to keep everyone warm.

With each load everything seems to go faster and faster. The loads are packed so quickly by the elves as the reindeer leap and pound their hooves wanting to be let free to leap to the sky. What a night it is!!!! What a feeling!!!!

To me Christmas is all about others. No one can deny that Christmas time produces many emotions in most of us. We have feelings that are so easily put away in the closet for another year until Christmas arrives again the next year. Why can't we hold on to those feelings all year? Why is it that at Christmas we can talk to that stranger and wish them happiness when for the rest of the year they are hardly noticed? Why do we have good cheer when for the rest of the year we can put those feelings aside? Why can't every day be Christmas??

I suppose most of us are creatures of habit and everything must be assigned to a specific time of the year or else it just isn't right. Does Santa have the right to be out and about for the rest of the year?

Well I'm here and I'm staying. To spead the joy and peace and happiness that is available to all those who want it.

It's Better to Give than to Receive

We all know that Christmas is a time of giving, through actions as well as gifts. But did you know that friendly Christmas deeds could actually reduce your risk of dying in the next 5 years by up to 60 per cent? A US study has found that older people who do not help others are more than twice as likely to die than people who give some help, reinforcing the notion that it really is better to give than receive.

'Making a contribution to the lives of other people may help extend our own lives,' said University of Michigan psychologist and lead author Stephanie Brown, whose work will appear in the journal Psychological Science.

'In other words ... it isn't what we get from relationships that makes contact with others so beneficial; it's what we give.'

The 5-year study involved 423 older couples, each of whom was asked about the type of practical support they provided for friends or relatives, if they could count on help from others when needed, and about the emotional support they gave each other.

A total of 134 people died over the 5 years. After adjusting for a variety of factors — including age, gender and physical and emotional health — the researchers found an association between reduced risk of dying and giving help. But there was no association between receiving help and reduced death risk.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone.

Can you hear the sleigh bells ringing? Do you feel the snow fall as the cold bites icily at your fingertips and nose? Can anyone hear Santa passing by in the night on Christmas Eve as I swoosh and sweep about the rooftops merrily delivering gifts to the children of the world?

Santa, why are you here now? I hear this dozens of times a day. You aren't supposed to be here. You don't belong! Can I have lots of presents? Can I.. Can I.. Can I?

Why doesn't Santa belong at this time of year? Many people in Blog world have embraced me with open arms and happy hearts and can feel the spirit of Christmas lingering over them now. Does it have to be December only? Can you feel the happiness around you?

I ask all of these questions because it stirs in me a feeling that Joy and Happiness and the feelings of goodwill towards others belongs for only a short time in the hearts and minds of many people. Once the festive season is over we pause and sigh and get back to the daily grind of life as it slowly and painfully trudges towards another season of happiness and goodwill. What happens in between? Do we have an off switch or a closet where we can hang those things and dust them off once a year?

Why do many people think that the feelings of Christmas only belong AT Christmas?

Maybe if we sat silently in a comfy quiet place for a while with our feet up and our eyes closed we could concentrate on what it feels like at Christmas. Regain the spirit!

I can assure you that I am staying and I will continue to spead the cheer and joy and happiness of Christmas all of the year. As we get closer to Christmas, of course the imposters will arrive for whatever reason to talk about and play Santa. Do they have an on switch too where they can only be that happy and joyful for such a short amount of time? Besides, Christmas isn't just about Santa. It is more about what we are and have inside that makes it such a wonderful thing. Of course many people who don't have the spirit within them still feel what is being sent out be those that do. A bit like passive Ho! Ho! Ho! except it's not addictive!

Let's stop and think and start each day as if it were Christmas. Let's have the joy and peace and happiness and goodwill to all men that surrounds the earth for a short time each year.

Or.... is Christmas just about what we receive? Those who truly know and have the spirit of Christmas already know that true happiness is in the giving!!

Let's make everyday just like Christmas.

I enter the home of poverty,
causing pale-faced children to open their

Friendship - Who is a true Friend

We all have friends. A lot gets talked about friendships. Everyone wants a true friend, and many of us believe that we have a friend who can be called a true friend. What kind of relations do friends share? When can we call a friend a true friend, and when can our friends take us as their true friend. After a romantic relationship, friendships are the most important relationships we can have. Though all of us have family and distant family, most of us rely on friends for advice, comfort and inspiration. How do we define a relation that can be called as one of true friendship?

The very first sign of a very good friend, not necessarily a true friend is that we are not worried about courtesies. You will call your friend at any hour and talk without any thought of time in your mind. Similarly, whenever you need support, you will call a very good friend and ask him/her to help you out. They expect the same from you. Another important trait of such relations is that we are not much worried about exposing ourselves. We speak about everything in our mind without worrying about what our friends will think. We are sure that they will take our talk in the spirit it was made. We are unguarded and open with friends in our talk.

A true friend is a little more than a very good friend. A true friend will support you even if it hurts his/her own interest. A true friend will understand your motives and needs and will be with you without any analysis or criticism. A true friend will come forward to help without any request and be with us in need without showing it or expecting anything in return. With a true friend, you can be sure that you will get help to the extent possible by him/her. Nothing will remain unturned. A mother is a true friend of her children. If we share such relations with an adult we can say that we are true friends.

A true friend makes no excuses of having work or appointments or anything but will be with you whenever you need him/her. In your hour of desperation, a true friend will support you even if the whole world opposes you. A true friend is not an opportunist. A true friend means to have someone who is like mother, as I said earlier. Instead of having hundreds of good friends, if you have a true friend, treat yourself lucky. If you can also become a true friend of someone, you will be blessed, because it is much easier for all of us to expect but very difficult to give. Be a true friend yourself first.

What does really matter?

Today I would like us all to think about what really matters most to us in life.

We either know, or we don't. Each of us is different. Yet, the one way we are unique is that we are all human, all have limited time, and all have a beating heart. In other words, we all have the present moment (NOW) to show LOVE to each other. That is the meaning of life: to love and give to each other in more meaningful ways.

When people pass away, we offer them a funeral. A ceremony where people who were close to the deceased show up to show final respects: recite a poem about them, say thoughts about them, or express ways that they were unique. These ceremonies are special. Yet, why don't we express these thoughts more frequently when our friends and loved ones are alive?

Yes, we are spiritual beings in a physical body, and death is just a passing. Yet, we will not see that person again in human form in our lifetime. So, what does that mean to US while we are here, NOW?

Why not show our love while the person is sitting in front of us? Is it that hard?

Showing love are the times we may think make us soft, or perhaps show our vulnerability. In reality, it shows the other person that we are human and that we care about them. Those are the moments that truly matter the most.

Being human is a precious gift, and part of that gift is time. The other part is sense/perception, and last, the ability to give.

So often, we do not give. Instead, we choose to procrastinate. We procrastinate calling that old friend we think about. We avoid telling our spouse/lover, "I love you." We delay writing that little "thank you" note to a former boss who helped us land a hot job. Why? Why do we procrastinate?

Procrastination has often been called "the tool of the devil." I would rather call procrastination "a choice."

We CHOOSE to procrastinate. We often choose to procrastinate for the same reason: choosing an unsatisfying career (fear of lack/no money if we do the thing we really enjoy), accepting mediocre relationships (fear of finding/allowing ourselves to find true love OR fear of loneliness of actually getting to know our selves in the process), and creating our own spiritual world or lifestyle (fear of the other people's perception). There are many other ways we procrastinate, and most of them are really about fear of SURRENDERING control to the divine within us , who shows us the path to what we really want and what will really enable us to create happiness and joy. Our culture creates these fears (though television, media, and mass expectation of standards of what is "good" and what is "not good" for us). Our culture essentially tells us to do that which makes us unhappy. We must overcome those cultural expectations by creating a life containing many more healthy programming messages.

Every day we make choices. Whether we make our choices for good or bad is truly up to us. Procrastination is merely the result of our decisions, the decisions made from logic, rather than our heart. When our spirit is guiding, the decisions come from our heart, and the mind then recreates/adjusts to fit the splendor of that moment.

At some point we will all die. However, we do not know when that moment will be. What will our life mean? Do we make the most of our moments to create joy, love, happiness in our lives and spread that love to others. We have only the moments we are in front of the people we care about to reach out and hug them, to kiss them on their cheek, and tell them how much we appreciate them. It only takes a minute or two to pick up a telephone and call that friend, or write that letter.

Can we find ways to improve how we live? How can we love others more often? What ways can we show our love, creatively? Can we live our aspirations today? If we know the answer, what are we waiting for to make us do it? Death? Life is fragile. Now is the time to live fully and bless those friends and family who grace us with their love.

Now is the time to live our life. Do you know your life purpose? If you do and are not living it, may I ask you WHY NOT? If you do not know your life calling, are you asking yourself the questions to finding it? Are you listening to the answers? Are you living according to those answers?

There is only NOW to make a difference. It is never too late to start telling people we love them. It is never too late to start to give and live by our heart, instead of our mind.

Live Every Day as if it was Christmas!!!!

Ho Ho Ho Everyone

Well.. Before I start - I just need to tell Betty in Springfield that I was very impressed by her kindness today. You have to know .... Santa is always watching. It's my job and Good Job Betty!!

I'm not complaining but I know that after Christmas is gone and over for another year and the tree and trimmings have been packed away for another year (even those cute Santa dolls that I see all over the place in every living room) that not many of you remember that Santa's job is never finished. As the sun sets on Christmas day and the new year dawns, Santa is already at work putting together my new "Naughty and Nice" list (thank goodness for computers), planning on what toys to make and making sure that Mrs Claus and the Elves get time to put their feet up too and have a well earned rest.

You see, It's always Christmas for me! Every day is about the joy and happiness and expectant yearning eyes of all the children in the world. Even the 99 year old and older ones!

Let's just think for one second. What if we were able to keep that feeling of Christmas that we get in December and hold it in our hearts and minds for all the year. What if we were able to spread cheer by greeting those strangers that we so readily waved to and smiled at in December every other day as well. Wouldn't the world be a better place? What if we had the same charity that we have at Christmas to give so readily to those in need all the time? How much hunger and pain would we diminish. How many lives could be saved? What if we were to put aside just 1% of what we spent at Christmas to give to the poor for the rest of the year. In Africa alone, millions of children and families would have life rather than death.

It isn't Santa's job to make you feel bad. My job is all about happiness and peace and joy and love and giving..... You know that feeling at Christmas. But Santa can tell you one thing that he knows all about. In fact Santa is the expert. You always get back more than you give!! That's why I do what I do!

AS you can see I am redesigning all of my blogs. Some blogs will even go and be replaced by something new.

Now that I am back online and my nasty little hacker has been pushed aside I hope that in the new year I can put into action all of the plans that I had for this year and was never able to do

I would appreciate any feedback you have. If you like the new blogs or even if you hate them. I really would love your feedback because I do all of this for you, not for me. If I can please you.., the reader... then i will be happy.

Look forward to more changes over the coming days and weeks. I have much to do that I had planned

A Message from Santa Claus

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone

I want to apologize to everyone for not being online much lately. It is an important time of the year when Santa should be here and I am very aware of that.

Unfortunately, there is a person here in BlogWorld who seems intent on making sure that I am not part of the Christmas Season here at MBL this year.

Every time I log on, or check an email or anything I am immediately targeted and then have to go about fixing my computer yet again. Si far to date I have had to reformat my hard drive 5 times and then reload and configure all of the software. Each time seems to be different and it sometimes takes me days to get back online.

Just a word to the person doing it... I know who you are and so far have resisted the urge to publicly discredit you. It is not my nature to be negative or revengeful but it is nearly at the time when I will be forced to name you in the hope that that will stop you from this continual harassment that you seem intent on.

All I want to do is bring cheer and happiness and peace and joy and love to all of you at this special time and it hurts me more than I can say that I have been continually stopped from doing so.

I intend to stay online as much as possible but if I disappear once more unexpectedly you will know why and I do apologize for it. It's my job as Santa to bring the Christmas cheer to all of you and it hurts me to be unable to do that properly.

May Christmas be that special time that you expect and may all of your wishes come true. Please remember though the true meaning of Christmas this and every year is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Christ child. That is what Christmas really IS all about.

Merry Christmas to all of you and thank you for your support and loyalty over the past few months. It has been a wonderful experience.

Billy the Misfit Elf

Billy always knew he was a little different. He has vague memories for growing up with people much smaller than himself. It was only when he became too tall for the workshop that Santa and Mrs. Claus decided he needed to be relocated to an environment more suited to his talents and height.Billy was never very good putting toys together. He even had trouble cutting out the pieces. The one talent Billy had, though, was his way with words. He could spin tales and poems and songs at the drop of a hat.

Unfortunately, these products weren't in very much demand on the North Pole.It isn't as though Billy didn't have his impact. All of the elves in the workshop knew some of Billy's earlier stories by heart. They knew the legend of The Reindeer Shoe since they had a hand in the actual events. They knew the story of Frosty the Snowman because Billy's first audience was the elves.It was a very sad occasion when Billy left the North Pole. The ceilings were simply too low and Billy too tall for comfort. Either the ceiling or Billy would suffer if he stayed. And, we all know, Santa's Workshop is not about suffering. So, Billy was sent to a very nice couple in North Carolina where he could walk freely without bumping his head. He is still there today. Every so often, he'll get a question of whether he's Santa Claus. His standard answer is "no, I'm just one of the elves."

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone

I would like to thank Colin (Cotojo) from Life for another of these wonderful awards.

Colin has given me one of these before but this time he gave it to me specifically for this blog and I am really happy about that.

This was my original first love blog that I started. I still have huge plans for here but the problem is that there just aren't enough hours in the day. I try so hard to do posts on every blog each day but with all of the excitement of Christmas and the huge task we still have to finish here at the North Pole it never quite seems to happen.

Will Santa come for Christmas Dinner?

I first saw him at our friends' wedding rehearsal. The resemblance was uncanny. There was no red suit with white fur trim, no fat belly, and no sleigh and reindeer. But the beard was the purest white I had ever seen. It was the most authentic Santa beard anyone could conceive. My adult mind kept playing a childish refrain. "It's Santa! It's really Santa!"

How appropriate that the wedding would be on December 23. Santa was to provide the music. He was rather solemn as the others celebrated in a festive mood. The minister showed him where to stand during the ceremony. I assumed he would sing. But the thin, bearded Santa in blue jeans reached down, opened a violin case, and lovingly took out his instrument.

Santa was not just a man playing a violin. It was obvious even to the untrained ear that the strings were in the hands of a master. People who had been chatting in various parts of the church slipped into the pews one by one, moved by the talent of this quiet gentleman.

He sat across the table from me at the rehearsal dinner. He did look like Santa, but carrying on a conversation with him was quite difficult. I learned that he was a plumber, not a professional musician, and that there was no "Mrs. Claus." He would be spending Christmas alone.

The idea preyed on my mind all night. Santa spending Christmas alone? The next day I asked the bride-to-be, "What's with Santa? No twinkle in his eye, no family, and no one to spend Christmas with?" She looked at me. "You don't know, do you?"

I instantly knew that I was not prepared for her answer. She said that Santa had loved his wife and son very much -- he was a devoted husband and father. Several years ago, he came home from work in early December to find them both gone -- their lives snuffed out by an intruder. He hasn't been the same since. There is no twinkle in his eyes. And he can't bear to hold little children and listen to their precious requests as he had done for so many years. No more Santa in the red suit -- just the plumber in blue jeans.

At the reception, he stood all alone. I did manage to engage him in some small talk. "Yes, it was a beautiful wedding." I looked him in the eye. "Will you come to our house for Christmas dinner?" His face flushed. I could see his hands shaking. "We have five sons. May I tell them Santa is coming for Christmas dinner?" I slipped him a note with our address. He stared into space. I turned away unacknowledged.

* * *As I tucked the younger boys in bed on Christmas Eve, I spoke softly. "Maybe we will have a special guest for dinner tomorrow. Who knows? Maybe Santa himself will be here!" I prayed as I laid my head on the pillow. "Please don't let Santa be alone on Christmas."

* * *The turkey was browned perfectly. The desserts were arranged on a special table, and everyone was starving. One o'clock and time for dinner. That morning, each of the boys, one by one, had come to ask me. "Mom, did you really invite him?" "Do you think he's going to come?"

My answer: "I hope so, Son."

We couldn't wait any longer. "Time for Christmas dinner!" Everyone gathered around the table. I saw the disappointment in the boys' faces. But just as the "amen" at the end of the blessing was pronounced, we all heard a car door slam. The boys raced to the back door. I could tell by the amazement on their faces who was coming up the back steps. "Mom, it's him! It's him! It's really Santa Claus -- in his everyday clothes, the ones he must wear all year in his workshop!"

The boys never saw the tears I brushed away as they rushed to welcome Santa into our home. After we opened our presents (there were even two for Santa), Santa spoke. "May I give your family a gift now?" He went outside and came back with his old black violin case. As he played, I was sure I could hear angels joining in as we sang "Silent Night."

After he put the instrument away, our two-year-old toddled over to Santa and gently stroked his beard. "Santa, tan I sits on ur lap?" I saw all the color drain from Santa's cheeks. For a moment, he was as white as his beard. Then slowly, slowly, Santa eased back into his big chair, and finally he stretched out his arms. -

Absulum the Reindeer Elf

Absulum the Reindeer Elf worked in the reindeer barn. He had to clean it everyday and that was rather hard for it was such a dirty job to mop and slop and scour and scrape every corner, nook and cranny in that reindeer place.

Absulum the Reindeer Elf had to keep the reindeer groomed. He had to give them all a bath. He had to feed them too. Cook their meals, brush their fur and fill that barn with hay and every morning when he woke he would have to do it all over again.

Absulum the Reindeer Elf played nurse and doctor too. He took care of all the reindeer if they were sick or had the flu. He fixed their sleigh he mended their reins and if they were sad he would wipe their tears. He worked his fingers to the bone but it seemed that no one cared.

Of course the elves in Santa's Workshop they were such a happy lot singing songs all day long with that Jolly happy Santa Claus. They laughed and danced from toy to toy as if it was such fun while outside in the reindeer barn was the Elf named Absulum.

Absulum the Reindeer Elf, when he heard that happy noise, would wish he was a Workshop Elf making Christmas toys but a Workshop Elf is wise and tall and Absulum was not and that was why he was in that barn well that is what he thought.

Now, it was on a Christmas Eve when this incident occurred, Santa's sleigh was flying high there was no reason for concern until the wind came up and the snow came down in a blinding wall of white and all the reindeer say that it set the stage for the tragedy that took place that night

Through that snow the reindeer flew with neither fear nor fright but the wind grew strong and stronger still until a blizzard grabbed that Christmas night. And it shook that night, it shook the sky and it shook that reindeer sleigh. The reindeer they could hardly see so soon they lost their way.

They were tumbling twisting turning topsy turvy round and round. They hit the tree tops flipped the sleigh and smashed into the ground.

The reindeer sleigh was broken it was scattered everywhere. There were parts and pieces on the ground over here and over there. Christmas toys torn from their wrapping, ribbons tangled in the trees and there upon the forest floor lay Santa Claus, and all could see that he was hurt from the tragic crash but just how bad no one would ask. For asking might be finding out an answer no one cared to know

The reindeer gathered round him each one limping, scraped or cut and one by one they called his name "Oh, Santa Claus? Get up!" But not one move did Santa make not a flicker not a sound and every single reindeer there thought, “What will we do now?"

The sky was black there was no light no moon or shining star. The reindeer huddled close for warmth around Santa Claus who was lying there in such a heap of sadness pines and twigs caught in his beard. Then one reindeer thought out loud "If only Absulum was here."

Then suddenly the reindeer, well they all began to chant. "Absulum? Oh Absulum! Oh Absulum! Absulum? Absulum? Oh Absulum! "Absulum? Absulum? Absulum? Absulum? Absuuuulllllummmmmm?"

Suddenly a star lit up that stormy Christmas sky and it fell toward the Earth and landed there at Santa's side. The reindeer all stepped back and gasped in wonder at the sight of Absulum the Reindeer Elf and the star he brought for light.

He placed that star upon a tree and it filled the Christmas sky then quickly down with reindeer round he was there at Santa's side.

Then on his knees the Reindeer Elf he breathed a single breath of life into his mouth and as he did Santa opened wide his eyes. "Absulum?" Said Santa Claus. “Absulum, is that you?" but Absulum did not answer for there was too much work to do.

He held his hand up to his mouth and let loose the oddest scream that echoed through the forest through the mountains and ravines.

Now, that scream? It was a creature call, one he learned when he was young. It was a call that creatures answered to and caused them all to come. And come they did from hovel, hole, from cavern, nest and tree to offer help to a Reindeer Elf who was in his hour of need.

Within seconds Squirrel and Moose and Deer were there upon the scene. Raccoon, Fox and Bobcat came and every bird from every tree. And every bunny rabbit hopped and those who had to crawled to take part in the rescue of the reindeer and Santa Claus.

Each part and piece of Santa's sleigh was gathered from the wreck and brought to Absulum the Reindeer Elf who began to put the pieces back. The reins were mangled, tangled torn, the runners snapped in two but Absulum the Reindeer Elf knew exactly what to do.

And so, while he worked on Santa's sleigh, the creatures all pitched in to gather up the toys that were scattered by the wind. They put the toys back in their wrapping, tied the ribbons, filled the sack. By then that sleigh was good as new so, they threw the sack in back. Then they helped old Santa to his feet and up onto the sleigh. The reindeer they got in as well wherever they could find a space.

Then Absulum the Reindeer Elf, he called the creatures round. He placed the reins upon them all and said, "We're taking Santa home". Then up into the drivers seat that tiny elf did climb. He took the reins and without delay commanded them to fly.

Well, that sleigh took off it left the gound and headed straight into the sky being pulled by Moose and Bunny Rabbits and creatures who weren't meant to fly. But fly they did and how or why is not an answer we need know. You see the question most important is, “Did they get them home?"

Well, yes they did. They got them home and quickly took them in. Missus Claus fed them chicken soup then she called to Absulum. She said, "Absulum, look outside there are toys still in the sleigh. You have to get back out there and deliver them right away."

Absulum looked at Missus Claus. He knew she was in charge but, instead of following her orders he took his reindeer to the reindeer barn. He tended to their injuries all that night and all the next day and as for all those toys outside well, that is where they stayed.

Because Reindeer Elves concern themselves only with what's right and when taking care of reindeer is all you know in life then you do what must be done to make sure those reindeer never come to harm and so, now you know why Absulum works in the Reindeer Barn.

Chapter 15... The Big Trip

CHAPTER 15: The Big Trip

Santa turned to Boomer. "Quick, Boomer! Hitch up Olive to Mrs. Claus's team. That will give us nine reindeer each." Boomer saluted. "Right away, Santa!" Boomer hitched Olive in the lead. A dozen elves gathered up the scattered toys. Another dozen brought the ones left over in the toy factory. The sleighs were quickly loaded. Boomer sprinkled Mrs. Claus's reindeer with the magic sparkles. For a moment the reindeer rose and floated on air. Mrs. Claus's team was now ready to fly. "Up and at 'em, Olive!" whooped Mrs. Claus. "Ho-ho! Ho-ho!" Santa winked. "You've got the words, my dear, but, well, the tune needs some work." Then with a merry "Ho! Ho! Ho!" and a "Ho-ho! Ho-ho!" Santa and Mrs. Claus whooshed off into the twinkling stars and over the moon. The elves jumped up and down and cheered the two sleighs in the sky. "Yippee! Yippee!" A few toasted each other with mugs of hot chocolate. As she led Mrs. Claus's team, Olive held her head up high. All the boys and girls got their presents on time and they were delighted. So was Olive. And she did such a super job that from then on she made the Big Trip with Mrs. Claus every Christmas Eve. Now, of course, everyone knows Olive the other reindeer.

CHAPTER 14: Mrs. Claus's Surprise

At that moment they heard a whistle in the distance. It came from Mrs. Claus. She wore a red-and-white Santa outfit. And she was driving a team made up of the eight spare reindeer. "Hee-hah! Giddy-up, my honeys!" Mrs. Claus urged. The spare reindeer looked as fit as ever. They came at full steam. Snow swirled around their pounding hooves. Santa's mouth fell open as Mrs. Claus pulled up beside him. "Mrs. Claus! Good gracious! What a surprise!" Santa said. "What are you doing here?" "Well, dear, I heard you had a problem," Mrs. Claus said. "We do, we do. A whopper. But I thought all the spare reindeer were in the hospital." Mrs. Claus smiled. "They were. Flat on their backs until Dr. Winters came up with a - cure, you might say. And then I did a little dickering about giving their stable a new paint job. You really should see it, dear." "We can talk about that later, my dear. But right now I'd like to know why you're here." "Well, I thought we could load up my sleigh and I'll - go with you. If you don't mind." Santa clapped his hands. "Mind? Why should I mind? That's a terrific idea! You really want to go, don't you, my dear?" "It would be a hoot. A real hoot." "All these years and you've never once said anything." "Well, wouldn't a passenger have made the sleigh too heavy?" Mrs. Claus said. "So? What do you say?"

CHAPTER 13: No Time To Lose

Number One, the chief elf, marched towards them. His face was red with anger. "I heard all that, Boomer. Oh, Santa! Santa!" he called. "I think there is something you should know." Santa struggled to his feet and brushed snow off himself. "What's going on here?" Santa said. "Tell Santa Claus the disgraceful thing you did, Boomer," Number One ordered. "Go on." Boomer hung his head. "I overloaded the sleigh with some barbells. I'm sorry, Santa, I really am. But please forget what I did and give Olive a chance to go with you. That's why I did it. Olive is as fast as greased lightning." Santa shook his head. The accident had confused him. "Olive?" he said. "Olive?" Then it dawned. "Yes, Olive! I was just talking to you. So you want to help deliver the presents, do you, Olive?" "Oh, yes, Santa. That's really why I came to see you." Boomer gave Olive a surprised look. "Huh? You did?" Santa stroked his beard. "So that was it! But why didn't you say so? Oh, never mind. We've got no time to lose. Come along, Olive." But Olive didn't move. "I'd love to, Santa, but I don't think it would be fair to go after this. If not for Boomer, you'd all be in the sky by now." Boomer looked upwards with clenched teeth. "Olive, you're going to blow it." "Hmm, I see," Santa said. "I see." For a while no one knew what to say. Finally Number One spoke up. He'd cooled off. "Santa, may I say something?" he said. "Although I do not approve of such a deed, I think Boomer is a well meaning fellow. He has served us well for many years. Perhaps we can overlook what he did." Santa nodded. "I agree, Number One. Everybody is entitled to a mistake. We'll give Boomer a second chance. So, Olive? Do you want to come? Yes or no?" Olive could hardly believe it. Was her dream about to come true? "Whoopee!" she shouted. "You'll see I'm really fast and strong, Santa." Santa's eyes twinkled. He patted Olive on the head. "Don't worry, Olive," Santa said. "I've had my eyes on you and I know how fast and strong you are. You were going to be on the team sooner or later. So as of now, you're officially hired." Chip, the computer ace, joined them. He was studying his calculator and he didn't look happy. "I hate to be a wet blanket, Santa, but this won't change much," he said. "With the help of this other reindeer - pardon, Olive - we can make Los Angeles just before sun up. But many other places will still get left out." Santa sighed. "I know, I know, I hadn't forgotten, Chip. How could I? All those children will be heart-broken. They'll never forgive me. But - but there's nothing we can do."

The sleigh had crashed. Santa Claus floundered in the snow. The reindeer sprawled on the runway. Boxes of presents were scattered everywhere. Olive galloped to the overturned sleigh. Boomer stood near it. "Oh, no! This is awful! A disaster!" Olive cried. "What happened, Boomer?" Boomer grinned. "I overloaded the sleigh when nobody was looking. I put a set of barbells across the back of the runners. "What! But why?" "You want to go with them, don't you?" "Shh! Of course I want to go, but -" "Well, if the team can't get airborne then you're in. You're in!" "But - but -" "Oh-oh!" Boomer clasped his mouth. "Look who's coming."

CHAPTER 11: Take-Off

Take-off was seconds away. From the runway red, gold, green, and blue fireworks lit the North Pole sky with fantastic patterns. Two elves at the front of the sleigh blew a trumpet fanfare. Tah-tah tah tah-tah tah tah. Tah-Tah. Boomer sprinkled Santa's reindeer from his bag of magic sparkles. The sparkles gave them extra power to fly. Chip and Number One looked on with frowns. Everyone was nervous except for the reindeer. "I'm all set chief," said Dasher, and pawed at the ground. "Me too," said Dancer, and shook his bells. "Let's go, Santa," said Comet. From the front of Santa's team came a red glow and a giggle. The reindeer loved Christmas Eve. Santa didn't have the heart to tell them thousands of children would be given a miss on this one. He slumped in his sleigh. Even his beard seemed to droop. Olive watched from a rise. Although she wanted to forget about the Big Trip, she just couldn't help coming to see the show. She especially loved the fireworks. She heard the reindeer's excited voices. Oh, how she wished she could be one of them. But I'll always be the other reindeer who stays behind, she thought. Olive turned away. She'd seen enough. A tear trickled down her cheek. Suddenly there were cries of alarm. And... BANG!

Mrs. Claus rushed into the ward. She was alarmed by what she saw. "What's going on, Doctor?" Dr. Winters shook his head. "I never thought I'd hear myself say this, Mrs. Claus. Never in a million years. But what we've got here is a bunch of fakers who want to sleep all day long in nice comfy beds. In short, they're on strike!" Mrs. Claus thought. "I think I've got an idea. It's not a very nice one, but -" She whispered into Dr. Winters' ear. The reindeer squinted at them. What were they up to? The doctor's eyes gleamed as he held up a hypodermic needle. He gave it a squirt. The reindeer stirred. "Now this might smart a little, you reindeer, but it's for your own good," Dr. Winters said. The reindeer shot up in bed. "Don't be alarmed," Dr. Winters said. "You'll just experience some - er - ha! ha! ha! - mild discomfort." "I feel a lot better, Dr. Winters," Jingles said. "M-m-me too," Pokey stuttered. "See you, Dr. Winters," said Igloo, bolting for the door. "Don't call us, we'll call you," said the rest as they clomped after Igloo. Mrs. Claus and Dr. Winters split their sides laughing as the reindeer stampeded down the corridor.

CHAPTER 9: Blackmail

In the hospital ward the spare reindeer lay in beds. With thermometers in their mouths were Speedy, Jingles, Flash, Igloo, Spinner, Rascal, Bingo, and Pokey. Dr. Winters took out the thermometers and read them. "Hmmm," he said. "I can't see anything the matter with any of you." He looked at his watch. "It's Christmas Eve with forty-three minutes 'til take-off. What if Santa needs some of you? Then what?" "Then that'll be too bad," Pokey stated. "We're not going back to that gloomy old stable." "Not until somebody paints it," said Flash. "Hah! So that's it," Dr. Winters said. "Blackmail!" "That's a mean thing to say," said Bingo. "But we're not going back to that stable. So there!" "Get up! Get up!" Dr. Winters yelled. "Where's your pride? Where's your courage? Where's your loyalty? Get up! Immediately! This is nonsense! This is - uh, please. With jam on it. Well?" But the reindeer just snuggled in their beds and answered with snores. They weren't going anywhere.

CHAPTER 8: The Numbers Aren't Good

Meanwhile Santa Claus, Number One, the chief elf, and Chip, the computer ace, were going over a few things in the Planning Room at Mission Control. They studied a wall map. Santa's Golden cat, was on his shoulders. He seemed interested in the map too.

"Santa, the numbers aren't good," Chip said. "We have a record number of kids this year and we just don't have enough reindeer power.

" Santa chuckled. "Chip, you worry too much. I have a great team, but we can always add one or two of the spare reindeer."

Mrs. Claus passed by. She cupped her ear to listen.

"One or two won't do it, Santa, even if we had them," Number One said. "Dr. Winters called me just before you arrived. An odd thing. The spare reindeer are in the hospital sick." Santa gasped. "Oh, dear! All of them at once? That's terrible!" "And the sleigh is loaded to overflowing," Chip said. "If we added any more toys we couldn't lift off. Lots of toys have to be left behind." He looked at his calculator. "The numbers aren't good." "They certainly aren't, Chip," Santa said. "Many places must be missed."

Chip pointed at the map with a baseball bat. "Here, here, and here. And there."

Santa Claus sank into an armchair with his head in his hands. The Magical Golden Cat almost fell off his shoulders. "But we can't let down any children," Santa moaned. "We can't! You're the computer expert, Chip. Think of something. Anything! We leave in fifty-six minutes. There must be something we can do." Chip threw up his hands. "There isn't, Santa, and that's a fact."

After she heard this, Mrs. Claus hurried over to the hospital.

CHAPTER 7: Too Late

At the toy factory Olive's best friend, Boomer, the chubby harness elf, sat on a crate by the shipping dock. He munched on a peanut butter sandwich. "Hi, Olive!" Boomer shouted. He liked to shout rather than talk. "Hi, Boomer. Do they need any more help inside?" "Not now. They're just tying up some loose ends. We're ready." "Oh." She wasn't needed here either. "What's eating you, Olive? Huh? You look really sad." "Well, it's just that I'd love to go on the Big Trip," Olive said. "Hey, come on! You'll make it one day." "Oh, I don't know about that, Boomer." "You will. You're fast. You always win the races on Candy Cane Pond. And you're strong too." "I'm just a nobody. After all these years I'm still called the other reindeer." "Aw, come on! Mrs. Claus for one doesn't call you that," Boomer said. "Tell her what you want." "Mrs. Claus doesn't do the hiring." "No, but I'm sure she's got some clout with Santa." "I just talked to Mrs. Claus and I couldn't tell her about - about my dream. I just couldn't." "Huh? Why not?" "Well - I -" Boomer waved his sandwich in the air. "Sweet potaters, Olive! You can't just wait for something to happen. And that's what you're doing. "I know, Boomer, I know." She wouldn't mention her visit with Santa Claus or Boomer would get really steamed. "But I just don't like to be - pushy." Boomer snorted. "Pushy? Pushy! You really tick me off sometimes. You know that? The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Things won't come to you. And -" "And what, Boomer?" Boomer stared at his sandwich. "The Big Trip is only eighty-nine minutes away. But I have to say you can forget it just like the other ones. It's too late." Olive gulped. Maybe I should have said something to Mrs. Claus, she thought. I'll be staying behind again.

CHAPTER 6: Countdown

Take-off time was ninety-seven minutes away. Best to forget about the Big Trip, Olive felt, by keeping busy. Maybe Mrs. Claus wanted some muffins taken to the hospital.

She headed for the bakery. Magnificent smells drifted from it: mincemeat tarts, chocolate cakes, jelly doughnuts, date squares, brownies, buns, bread, all kinds of muffins and cookies. "Hi, Olive. That nose of yours sure works mighty fine," Mrs. Claus said. "Here's a nice warm raisin and oatmeal cookie just for you."

"No thank you, Mrs. Claus," Olive said. "I'm not hungry. I just came over to see if you wanted some muffins taken over to the hospital." "I'm sorry, Olive, we made the muffin delivery this afternoon when you were at the toy factory." "Oh."

Mrs. Claus gave Olive a close look. "What's the matter, Olive? Why the glum looking face?" Olive pawed at the ground. "Well - it's nothing. Nothing."

Mrs. Claus fixed Olive's blue bow. It was crooked. "Something is bothering you. Tell me, Olive, don't be shy with me. We girls have to stick together. What is it?" "It's nothing, Mrs. Claus. I'd better go now and see if they need me one last time at the toy factory."

Olive trotted off. "You're my favorite reindeer you know. I'm always around if you need me," Mrs. Claus called after her.

CHAPTER 5: A Meeting With Santa

As she stood in front of Santa's house, Olive wasn't so sure of herself. "Just who do you think you are?" she said. But she'd come this far so what did she have to lose? All Santa could do was say no. She hesitated then tapped at Santa's door.

She waited. No answer. She tapped again. No one was home. She sighed. "Oh, well, I tried." Just as Olive was about to leave, the door burst open.

"Ho! Ho! Ho! Well, well, look who it is!" Santa said. He had only one boot on. "I'm just getting ready to go over to Mission Control to check things out before the Big Trip. What can I do for you, Olive?" "

Hi, Santa. I thought I'd ask if there, uh, was - was " "Was what, Olive?" "Well ; anything I could do." Santa thought. "No, I can't think of anything." "Oh." "What did you have in mind?" "Well ; uh ; well ;" Olive was tongue-tied. "Please, I'm really in a hurry," Santa said. "Well?"

When he hears what I want he'll laugh at me, Olive thought. That's worse than a simple no. She just blinked. "I can't think of a thing you could do," Santa said. "Well, I just thought I'd, you know, ask anyway." Santa shrugged. "Thank you for asking, Olive." "You're welcome, Santa."

She left and Santa scratched his head. "What a strange conversation," he muttered.

It was Christmas Eve again. As always Olive wished she could go on the Big Trip.
Many of her spare reindeer pals had gone. Why not me? she thought. But maybe that was a foolish dream.

Only this morning an elf had shouted, "You over there ; no, not you, Jingles ; the other reindeer. Yes, you, pimento nose. Give us some help." But at dusk when Olive got off shift, she began to do some serious thinking. Maybe it wasn't a foolish dream at all. What did that smart alec elf know anyway? So she decided right then to visit Santa and ask him if she could join the team.

Chapter 3... Olive's Jobs

As the years passed and she got bigger, Olive became one of the best skaters among the spare reindeer. She always won the friendly races against them at Candy Cane Pond.

Olive also had important jobs to do during the Christmas season. She looked through the magic telescope to see which boys and girls were naughty or nice, and reported their names to the chief elf.

She hauled boxes of presents to Santa Claus's sleigh on the runway. She delivered muffins from Mrs. Claus's kitchen to the hospital. In the toy factory she checked for broken toys coming off a line in Quality Control.

She liked these jobs, but the job Olive wanted more than anything was to be on Santa's team. Will I be picked some day? she wondered.

Gasping for breath, she found herself in front of Santa and Mrs. Claus's house. Night here was calm and peaceful. She saw them arm in arm on their doorstep. They were looking at the stars. Santa Claus laughed when he saw the tired little reindeer. "Ho! Ho! Ho! Look, my dear. A reindeer with an olive for a nose!

Goodness! Welcome to the North Pole, little one." Mrs. Claus smiled. "Well, aren't you just the cutest thing though! We'll have to call you Olive. Right, Santa?" Santa nodded.

"Do you like cookies, Olive?" "I don't know, ma'am," she said. "Well, try this," said Mrs. Claus. She gave Olive a cookie. "It's raisin and oatmeal fresh from my bakery." Olive found it tasty.

While she nibbled on it, Mrs. Claus tied a blue bow on her head. "There, Olive!" Mrs. Claus said, giving her a big hug. "You just needed a mite sprucing up." "I hope you can stay a while, Olive," said Santa.

Olive felt there was little chance she'd see her family again, so she decided to make the North Pole her home.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone.

I have a new story for you. I will post a new chapter every day until the end of the Story. There are 15 Chapters

Chapter 1. Wolves.

The storm in the Barrens raged around the little reindeer with a nose like an olive. "Mommy! Daddy!" She'd lost her mother and father and brothers and sisters. The night wind shrieked. The snowflakes stung her eyes.

"Mommy! Daddy! Where are you?" But no one could hear. And now "danger!"; wolves.

She could smell them. They were close. Maybe they ate my family, she thought, and want me too. So the little reindeer ran as fast as she could. In the fierce storm
she didn't know where she was going. She just knew she had to get away. The
wolves chased her, but she soon left them far behind. Even when she no longer
picked up their scent, she ran and ran.

Finally she came to the North Pole.

I thought today I would remind you all that it is now only 93 days to christmas and the time is very very close to write to Santa. You can write to Santa at Santa@Santa-Mail.com .If you want a letter back you should get writing very soon as at this time of the year Santa gets many letters asking that Santa writes back. Of course many people assume that I get my elves to write back to you and they have a big rubber stamp with my signature on it and that I never do any of the letters. I can assure you that i write each and every one and I make sure that I remember all of the things that you want.

I suppose if Rudolph gets back in time I could even get him to place a hoof print on a letter to you also.

Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the Night Before Christmas
and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse

Jessica in her nightshirt
settled into bed
while visions of Pokemon
danced in her head.

You've heard this before,
the story's not new,
But I've added a twist,
your name's in here, too!

I'm jolly, I'm round
and I wear a red suit
I visit Jessie's home,
in a sled filled with "loot"

And what is this "loot"
that I bring in my sled?
simply toys, like dolls
and balls that are red.

There are clothes and shoes
and candy canes pink,
and then there's some coal,
for the bad kids I think!

Some say that I'm Santa,
some say I'm a fad,
some folks even say,
I look just like your dad.

But one thing's for certain,
on this special night
the world stops its churning,
and pushing its might.

Smoke stacks are turned off,
workers go home,
machines become silent,
from Atlanta to Rome.

Up in the sky,
late at night there's a glow,
Where a special star twinkled
many years ago.

Peace and goodwill
fill our hearts from the light,
Mary gave birth
to Baby Jesus that night.

Wise men brought gifts,
they came from afar,
they found their way there,
they followed the star.

one day take a look.

Now onward and upward,
I'll fly through the night
I'm still the tradition
of what's good and what's right

And because you'll get presents,
I know Christmas Day
will not be forgotten,
as you laugh and play

But remember the reason

It comes from our Christ,
not just from a toy.

So, go hang your stockings
by the chimney with care,
don't worry about me,
I'll still be there...

I'll drink up the milk,

Is it Better to Give or Receive?

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone.

Today I want to ask: Is it better to give or to receive?

Presents let us express our love and gratitude. Why, then, do we get so stressed out about them? And how can we bring sense and significance back to the season? THOUGH WE LIKE TO COMPLAIN about the commercialism of the holiday season, no one--not even the two-sizes-too-small-hearted Grinch--would want to get rid of presents.

At its core, the exchange of gifts is a joyous ritual. Those robes, orchids, and batches of oatmeal cookies we bestow every year let us acknowledge important relationships and strengthen our bonds with friends, family, and community. To give a gift to someone is to say, 'I am connected to you, and I know you well enough to know what you like.'

Faced with a holiday season that's too often fraught with chaos, stress, waste, and debt, it's easy to lose track of the pleasure and meaning of giving. But by remembering what lies at the heart of this singular season, and looking afresh at the impulse to give and receive, we can make these days feel more like the spiritual celebrations they were meant to be.

Look for the meaning

One way to bring meaning back to the holidays is to remember they are holy days. "Welcome in the spirit of whatever you're celebrating, whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, or the solstice," says Barbara Biziou, author of The Joys of Everyday Ritual and The Joy of Family Rituals. Biziou advocates reviving your family's traditional ways of celebrating, or creating new rituals (such as making ornaments together or cooking a meal for a neighbor or stranger) if the old ones no longer feel meaningful. Instead of obsessing about presents, we can spend this season connecting with people through the sharing of food, warmth, and hospitality.

Thanksgiving is a good place to start--the whole purpose is, after all, to focus on giving thanks. A way to make sure that everyone around the table remembers the holiday's true meaning: At the Thanksgiving dinner, each person can take a turn listening as the others say what they appreciate about her or him.

When we feel gratitude for what we have received, we have an experience of fullness. From that fullness, you naturally want to give back. This is true generosity, not obligation giving. It's the natural process of recognizing what we have and then sharing it.

The good gift

The virtues of gratitude and generosity are linked to each other like "the in and the out breaths." Acknowledging our bounty leads us to the desire to share it; in this context, it makes perfect sense that Thanksgiving is followed by Christmas.

There is great pleasure to be found in giving--or receiving--just the right gift. At Christmas, you could give a loved one a box of 12 envelopes, one for each month; inside each envelope could be placed a picture of one of her favorite flowers that she could then trade in for an actual bouquet. This would be a successful present, because it would demonstrate how well you know her--plus, it lasts all year long.

Ultimately, the best gifts are the ones given from the heart, gifts that infuse our rituals with feelings and values. They're the ones that bring joy to the recipient and the giver--joy to the world. Even the Grinch realized this, right before his heart grew three sizes: Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more. Unconfirmed Rudolph Sighting?

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone.

There have been unconfirmed sightings of Rudolph today.

Anyone who has ever sat back and found imaginary animals in the clouds will enjoy this view of the Sun. A visitor to the website of the SOHO spacecraft found Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in naturally dark regions of the solar surface.

In the image at right, SOHO scientists have drawn an outline of the shape for anyone who might have trouble finding it.

Peter Kuklok of Germany found the shape. SOHO scientists, in releasing it to the public today, said "we are obliged to be sharing it with everyone else."

The image is green because SOHO records electromagnetic radiation at various wavelengths. This view is of extreme ultraviolet light. The dark region in question is a substantial coronal hole, a part of the Sun where solar particles are following open magnetic field lines out into space. Like sunspots, coronal holes develop and change over time.

Coronal holes can send enough particles into space to generate minor geomagnetic disturbances at Earth, scientists say.

If you have proof that this is Rudolph, please advise the Elf Police immediately so that they can investigate.

Breaking News... Rudolph Kidnapped

Not very Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone

I just don't know what to think. Mrs Claus is in her kitchen sobbing her eyes out. The elves are running all over the place in a mad frenzy looking everywhere while yelling and calling out. The other Reindeer (Vixen in particular) are refusing to eat and I am a mess!!!

The North Pole is in chaos!!!

How could this have happened? How could anyone do something like this?

Not only are we very worried about Rudolph... but.. what about Christmas Eve. I've tried before and no one can lead the reindeer like Rudolph can. What will we all do!!!

We woke this morning as usual and when I went out like I do every morning to say good morning to all the reindeer and scratch them behind their ears.. there was Rudolph's pen totally empty with a ransom note nailed to the gate. "Pay up or the Reindeer gets it!!" it said. Gulp!! I don't dare think about what that means. I showed Mrs Claus immediately and of course she hasn't stopped sobbing since. I must admit I'm finding it hard not too as well. Thank goodness for the elves. they are scurrying around looking everywhere for clues as to where Rudolph could be but so far nothing. We had a fresh blanket of snow during the night and it's covered all of the evidence.

Of course we contacted the North Pole Elf Police immediately and they came with their magnifying glasses and deer stalkers and so far they are yet to even find one clue. Nothing!!!!

I don't even want to think about what this will do for all of our Christmas eve plans right now. The important thing is that we get Rudolph back safe and sound.

The ransom note asked for 10,000 unmarked toys all of different shapes and sizes so all we can do is get to work and start making them. I do hope all of the children understand that we have to put aside making Christmas toys right now because this is a priority. I am sorry children. Don't worry. I'll make sure we get your toys done too. we're all just going to have to work 24/7 from now on to get it done as well as raise the ransom.

That's all I can tell you right now. Of course I'll keep updates coming for you all the time. I know how much this affects everyone and you will be anxious to know what is happening. Please tell everyone to keep watching in case you see him.

I'll get back here with an update as soon as I can.

I am really sorry. I have to go now. The Elf Police have just pulled up outside.

Santa Claus Lawsuit

Not even Santa is safe.........

CHICAGO - The American Civil Liberties Union announced today that it was bringing a lawsuit against Santa Claus for violations of the civil rights of children. An ACLU spokesman, Mr. E. Scrooge, stated that, "Mr. Claus has been violating children's right to privacy and has been putting that information in a vast database.The information is then used by the law enforcement arm of Mr. Claus' organization to determine which children are considered naughty or nice. It is obvious Mr. Claus has violated the children's rights, as we have alleged in our suit, because of the memos and other company information we have obtained.

In addition, we believe Mr. Claus has been engaging in mind control experiments designed to prevent the free expression of beliefs."Among the documents presented to the courts today was a memo which reads, in part:

You better watch out.
You better not cry.
You better not pout.
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town.
He sees you when you are sleeping
He knows when you're awake,
He knows when you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness' sake.

Mr. Scrooge claimed the document, was obtained from a worker in the distribution department of Mr. Claus' organization, "Clearly shows a concerted attempt to restrict the rights of children to free expression and free thought. In addition, there are concerns about the security of the information. What would be the result of such a database being made available to other law enforcement agencies around the world?"

Lawyers at the Justice also confirmed today that they were investigating the possibility that Mr. Claus was at the core of a vast conspiracy against children. Anonymous sources from inside the Justice Department stated that, "We believe a large number of parents, ministers, and teachers are involved in this business and we expect several of them will testify for the State in return for a lighter sentence."

In addition, the same sources indicated a parallel investigation by the Department and the FBI on possible charges of smuggling on the part of Mr. Claus, "Our records do not show Mr. Claus, or any one else, paying any import duties or taxes on any items he has delivered. Since Mr. Claus has representatives in all of the States of the Union, we believe he should have to pay state and local taxes on all of the goods he delivers."

Lawyers for Mr. Claus stated, "The charges of the ACLU are absurd. Mr. Claus is a well-known and highly-respected figure. His supporters are from around the world and his message of love and respect can, in no way, be taken as a for of "mind control" or a violation of the "civil rights of children."

The lawsuit is complicated by the fact that Mr. Claus is not a resident of the United States or any country with which the United States currently has an extradition treaty. It is unknown where Mr. Claus is at the moment, but it is believed he is hiding out at his North Pole estate.

In a brief statement, read by his lawyer, Mr. Claus said, "I find the charges of the ACLU absurd and am confident they will be rejected by the courts. As for any criminal charges, I believe the Justice Department will discover they have no basis."

Experts are uncertain what possible effect the suit or possible pending charges might have on Mr. Claus' Christmas travels this year.

The Christmas Spirit

I enter the home of poverty,
causing pale-faced children to open their
eyes wide in pleased wonder.

I cause the miser's clutched hand to relax,
and thus paint a bright spot on his soul.

I cause the aged to renew their youth
and to laugh in the glad old way.

I keep romance alive in the heart of childhood,
and brighten sleep with dreams woven of magic.

I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways
with filled baskets, leaving behind hearts
amazed at the goodness of the world.

I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild,
wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little token
that releases glad tears -
tears which wash away the hard lines of sorrow.

I enter dark prison cells,
reminding scarred manhood of what might have been,
and pointing forward to good days yet to come.

I come softly into the still, white home of pain,

Make your own Christmas Tree Ornaments

Well... Mrs Claus tells me that we are nearly down to 100 days to go to Christmas. Who knew it would come this fast. It only seems like yesterday that it was 101. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Seeing it's nearly that time of the year again I thought that this year you might like to sit down with the kids and make your own tree decorations for a change. Besides that, it's better for the environment and that is very important.

So this is what we have....

Simple Cardboard Ornaments

Use these free patterns and directions to create a variety of simple Christmas tree ornaments.

Materials Needed:
Thin Cardboard (cereal boxes, etc)
Paint
Glue
Misc. Supplies

Instructions:Print out the patterns below, trace them onto cardboard, and then decorate them to your heart's content!

Use cardboard from cereal boxes, or other similar products! Paint the ornaments and then you can decorate them with a variety of objects. Try some of these:

The Tale of the Chistmas Tree Fairy

Ho! Ho! Ho! Everyone.

This is the story of the Christmas Tree fairy.

I’ll tell you an old Christmas story,
as we sit round the log fire at night.
Why each Christmas tree has its fairy on top
and why Santa’s beard is so white.

It happened one winter in England,
on a dark Christmas Eve long ago
There was Santa out doing his rounds
and riding his sleigh in the snow.

He was out taking presents to each house
and then, when that job was done,
he went round once again with his fairies
putting Christmas Trees in every one.

Now just when he thought he might finish
and the last house was coming in sight.
He went to fetch trees off the sleigh,
And he found he was just, four trees light.

This discovery quite upset Santa,
So he gave to his reindeer a shout (whoa up!)
So he sent for his Christmas Tree fairy
to chastise her for leaving them out.

"Eeee by gum, tha’s a daft little fairy.
That’s as daft as a fairy could be.
When you loaded the sleigh up this evening
You must‘ve missed off a few trees".

“Oh #@*%!” replied the little fairy.
Which was really quite un-fairy like,
“I’ll have to go back to the factory.”
And with that she flew off in the night.

“Hold on a minute,” cried Santa
“There’s a way that won’t let yer forget
Fetch one tree back for each finger
On your right hand– you’ll get it right yet”

Then off like a shot went our fairy.
Much faster than the light from the sun‘
Cause Einstein hadn’t been invented
and she wasn’t to know it weren’t done.

Now if you'd have watched the little fairy
There was trouble to come, you could tell.
For when she was counting her fingers,
She added her thumb in as well.

Now Santa, he waited for hours
Till his patience was running quite dry
When at last he saw the fairy flying
For all she was worth through the sky.

But then, as the fairy got nearer,
Santa’s anger grew more and more.
He could tell by the load she was bearing,
that she’d fetched him five trees, not four.

Then Santa got redder and redder,
started roaring with all of his might.
Till the glow from his nose outshone Rudolph’s
and his beard, it began to turn white.

“Why, that’s stupid”, he yelled at the fairy,
“That’s four times as thick as I’d thought.
Now go put the trees in the houses
And when that is finished - report.”

So straightaway off went the fairy,
and as soon as she’d finished the last place
She brought the fifth tree back to Santa
And waved it in front of his face.

“Whatever shall I do with this one?
”Our innocent fairy enquired,
So Santa, he upped and he told her
‘Cause by now he were feeling quite tired.

The fairy, she looked up at Santa
And her face it went a mite red
But being the good little fairy she was
She upped and she did as he said.

So now, at the end of my story
You’ll see why to this very night,
each Christmas Tree has a fairy on top
And old Santa’s beard is quite white.

The moral, should ever you want one
is simple – when doing your sums
If you really must count on your fingers,
Don’t forget to remember your thumbs.
